Mott MacDonald is looking to appoint a Principal Engineer to provide leadership for Transmission Engineering activities in our North Division.In this role, you will lead the North Division's Transmission team and managing/growi a team of Transmission engineers/ specialists. This position is ideal for a very senior candidate who is eager to take on the challenge of overseeing a full team and driving excellence in engineering projects. This is a position with a lot of hands-on engineering utilizing a broad knowledge of electrical utility experience, engineering principles, and practices acquired through progressive experience and education. You are expected to work collaboratively, helping to develop the brand, leveraging skills to win and deliver work in New York, New Jersey and New England and providing support to the international team and for wider projects and prospects.

The responsibilities of the position will be varied, but will typically include:




  • Lead and mentor a team of Transmission engineers and specialists, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the North Division, ensuring the team is equipped to handle increasing project demands.
  • Drive performance and accountability within the team, setting clear goals and expectations.



  • Accountable to lead design activities in accordance with applicable codes and standards, policies, and procedures.



  • Review the design work completed by his/her peers and ensure compliance with scope and QA/QC requirements.



  • Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring of work activities with other multi-discipline project team members.



  • Engineering technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems.



  • Mentor and provide guidance to developing engineers within the department.



  • Continuous improvement of job-related, engineering technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.



  • Supporting business planning, development, and training.



  • Support business development, cost estimating, and proposal responses.





We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:




  • Significant knowledge of T&D Engineering with 15+ years' experience.



  • Has demonstrated thought leadership and project delivery with a notable market profile, including delivering significant size assignments.



  • A degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized accredited institution.



  • Professional Registration: (PE) required, additional states would be considered a plus.



  • Management and leadership experience of a team.



  • Has experience of working with OEMs, Contractors, and Consultants.



  • Excellent communication skills.

The expected salary for this position is:

Massacheutues: $147,000 - $180,000

New York: $149,000 - $182,000

New Jersey:$140,000 - $172,000

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
