Who We Are:

A collective of institutions and leaders, the African American Leadership Forum serves as a community innovation accelerator. We empower Black communities to imagine, then create an equitable future. As a think-and-do-tank for the state of Minnesota, we combine the functions of a think tank (providing research and analysis of social/ political issues) with the action-oriented role of an activist organization.

What We Do:

Using data research and policy, discourse-driven convenings, design innovation, and strategic leadership development, the Forum drives for change by confronting racism and inequities, to improve the living standards of Black Minnesotans.

Education, Health, Public Safety, Economic Prosperity, Environmental Justice, and Generational Wealth Building.

Chief Community Revitalization Officer (CCRO)

The Chief Community Revitalization Officer will serve as the community quarterback for the implementation of the comprehensive North Minneapolis Forward development plan. The position is full-time and requires presence in-person and in the community.

Pay Transparency: At The Forum, we offer a transparent view into two key components of your total compensation package: Base Salary and Benefits. Learn more about the benefits package this role is eligible to participate in below. For our Chief Community Revitalization Officer position, our salary range is $130,000 - $150,000 based on experience. This role has been classified as a regular full-time, exempt role that is paid on a salaried basis.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Planning and Implementation



  • Lead the implementation of the North Minneapolis Forward plan, focusing on the six key pillars: Thriving Corridors and Nodes, Cradle to Career Learning, New Industries and Jobs, Diverse Housing Options, Health/Wellness/Safety, and Engaged Leadership.
  • Establish implementation timelines for near-term, mid-term, and long-term action steps across all plan pillars.
  • Coordinate development activities across identified commercial nodes and corridors.
  • Track key data indicators to measure implementation success and community impact.


Community Engagement and Collaboration



  • Foster relationships with community members, donors, public and private sector representatives, and coalition partners identified in the plan.
  • Facilitate community forums and meetings to ensure resident participation throughout implementation.
  • Engage residents in decision-making processes to support anti-displacement strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to communicate implementation progress to external audiences.
  • Create feedback mechanisms to adapt implementation strategies based on community input.


Project Management and Resource Allocation



  • Coordinate the implementation of key development projects across identified corridors and nodes with key partners (e.g., city leaders, developers, and community stakeholders).
  • Establish strategic partnerships with the extensive network of potential partners identified in the plan.
  • Exercise prudent stewardship of financial and human resources, managing expenses effectively and exploring funding opportunities.


REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or 5 - 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the Forum's mission and North Minneapolis community.
  • Be driven by the profound opportunity to implement systems change and advance race equity.
  • Experience in community development implementation, with a background in urban planning, community development, economic development, or related fields.
  • Proven track record in coordinating multi-stakeholder implementation efforts and community revitalization initiatives.
  • Excellent coalition-building skills with the ability to interpret and synthesize community data and coordinate complex initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of implementation strategies across multiple sectors, including housing, economic development, education, and public health.
  • Proven project management and coordination skills; attention to detail; capacity to apply critical thinking, work collaboratively, and manage multiple objectives in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience using community engagement to drive successful implementation and systems change.
  • Excellent teamwork, collaboration, and operational management skills.
  • Thrive in complex implementation environments and embrace strategic community development approaches.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of leadership in community development organizations with successful project implementation experience.
  • Excel as a compelling advocate and influencer, adept at coordinating diverse stakeholders toward shared implementation goals, both internally and externally.
