Description The Patient Account Specialist (Self-Pay) provides customer service and collection services to Early-Out clients, patients, and guarantors. This role involves reviewing, following up, and resolving patient account balances while adhering to client policies and procedures. The specialist must have a thorough understanding of FDCPA, FCRA, and HIPAA regulations. * Manage work flows and time to maximize recoveries and ensure client and patient satisfaction * Work with patient/guarantor, insurance companies and/or other third parties to negotiate, arrange and monitor payment plans * Contact consumers and utilize effective negotiating skills to collect unpaid debt * Follow up with consumers to ensure payments are made within timely matter * Use database to monitor and update accounts * Keep accurate records and reporting on collection activity * Prepare and process patient payments using the client systems as available * Meet or exceed established goals * Obtain documentation with all Federal, State and local regulations and laws; including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and others as appropriate * Perform other duties as required or directed Hours: Monday - Thursday, 8-5, Friday 8-4:30 Qualifications * 2+ Years for patient account experience - patient collections experience preferred * EMR Experience - Meditech preferred * Experience with all insurance payers - Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial * Ability to take 100+ phone calls daily Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
