Executive Director of Operations, Capitol Campus

Requirements

The Executive Director of Operations, Capitol Campus is the lead management role accountable for the administrative and operational activities of the university's expanding downtown presence (Capitol Campus) to ensure a seamless and proactive approach to service delivery, responsiveness to the needs of academic and administrative units with a presence on the campus, and integration of the campus with the rest of the university. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate with the internal and external service providers for the Capitol Campus to ensure accountability for a seamless and proactive approach to service delivery against operational plans, including for facilities (including residential buildings), information technology, parking and transportation, safety and security, food service and other auxiliary services, childcare, space planning, and event management.
  • Interface with and is responsive to the leadership of academic and administrative units with a presence on the Capitol Campus to understand their current and future needs and plans, document and track their feedback, and ensure the operations of the campus are supporting them.
  • Partner with the university's Office of the Chief Financial Officer and the campus financial/budget officers to develop and manage budgets, expense allocations, and other financial plans.
  • Liaise with the senior leadership of the university, including the President's and Executive Vice President's offices, to inform and advance their goals.


Work Interactions

The Executive Director of Operations, Capitol Campus reports to the Sr. Associate VP and Chief of Staff in the Office of the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. The position interfaces regularly with the leadership of service providers on the Capitol Campus, leadership of academic (Executive Vice President's offices, schools, and departments), and administrative units (student and other service departments) with a presence on the campus, and senior leadership of the university, including the President and Executive Presidents and their designees. This position is based onsite at the Capitol Campus 90% of the time, with some limited time on the Hilltop Campus required on an as needed basis.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 8 years of professional management and operations leadership experience in a complex, matrixed environment


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree
  • Understanding of and experience with higher education budgeting, financial planning, and operations
  • Understanding of facilities planning and management, with experience managing a large physical footprint/campus preferred
  • Ability to interact with and especially inuence at the most senior levels of an organization and to work collaboratively across functions, levels, and departments to identify and achieve shared objectives
  • Significant experience working with academic leaders and faculty
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical and administrative sta, and to integrate resources on a timely and organized basis
  • Highly collaborative working style
  • Proven record of building relationships and achieving outcomes in a matrixed organization
  • Sound management skills and ability to think strategically while balancing several complex agendas
  • Careful judgment and discretion with respect to strategic, confidential, and sensitive material
  • Flexibility and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Established skills in planning for and managing multiple, diverse, and organizational needs

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$135,188.00 - $264,291.85

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
