As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen.

This position requires a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Physician (MD or DO).

We are seeking a mission-driven Physician Medical Evaluator to support military entrance medical processing. This independent contractor role involves conducting medical histories, physical exams, and documentation review for military applicants in accordance with accession medical standards. Physicians will operate in a structured, regulatory-compliant environment with full respect for applicant dignity, privacy, and professionalism. Experience in a MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) environment or Military health setting and proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) such as MHS GENESIS, Oracle Cerner, EPIC, or equivalent systems is preferred. Public Trust/NACI clearance is required.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Physician Medical Evaluator - MEPS: $

Pay commensurate with experience.

Physician Medical Evaluator - MEPS Responsibilities Include:



  • Conduct comprehensive medical histories and physical examinations for military applicants.
  • Review and analyze medical documentation, including diagnostic test results and consult reports.
  • Apply accession medical standards to determine applicants' medical qualifications and fitness for military programs.
  • Document findings using electronic health record systems in compliance with military health standards.
  • Demonstrate respect and professionalism in all applicant interactions, aligned with the "Red Carpet Treatment" philosophy.
  • Adhere to the Privacy Act, HIPAA, and other federal privacy regulations.
  • Participate in MEPS medical peer reviews and contribute to local quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with installation protocols, policies, and medical procedures.
  • Support other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of health operations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.



Physician Medical Evaluator - MEPS Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:



  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from a LCME or COCA accredited institution Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) accredited.
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency OR direct patient care experience within the past three (3) years.
  • Foreign medical graduates must hold ECFMG certification or have completed the Fifth Pathway, along with an active U.S. medical license.
  • Possess a current, unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of ACGME-accredited postgraduate training.
  • Maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (with hands-on skills session) from the American Heart Association.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems such as MHS GENESIS, Cerner, Epic, or equivalent.
  • Strong skills in clinical judgment, time management, and decision-making.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with assessments across medical specialties including internal medicine, orthopedics, mental health, pediatrics, OB/GYN, ENT, and general medicine.
  • Experience conducting mental health screenings and interpreting diagnostic test results.
  • Ability to complete required Genesis medical documentation training.
  • Social sensitivity, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to comply with access and security requirements for federal and military facilities.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
