The salary range for this position is $66,737-$80,034.

Position description

The Brady lab is seeking a highly motivated and independent individual who is interested in pursuing an academic career in the plant development and synthetic biology - with an emphasis on the study of tomato, using Arabidopsis for system testing. Dr. Brady's research focuses on the control of root system architecture and improved growth in response to nitrogen availability.

The successful applicant will be responsible for generating synthetic genetic, and optogenetic tools to control expression of target genes to regulate nitrogen signaling and lateral root initiation and elongation. The applicant will work closely with teams in Germany, and the United Kingdom. They will have the opportunity to attend workshops or courses aimed at advancing their existing analytical skills as required by ongoing and future research projects, mentor students, and to participate in the preparation and writing of manuscripts and grants.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

* PhD in the area of (Plant) Biology, Developmental Biology, Systems Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology.

* Experience in high-throughput cloning, transfection and plant transformation

* Ideally experience in protoplasting.

* Demonstrated knowledge of root system architecture (or of plant development).

* Demonstrated knowledge of imaging.

* Demonstrated knowledge of experience working in tomato; and ideally in Arabidopsis.

* Ideally experience in plant nutrition or plant.

* Familiarity and working knowledge of standard bioinformatics and statistical tools, packages, algorithms, and databases for the analysis of genetics data.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects.

* Highly motivated and committed to research.
