Key Position Details:

Job Description:

Sustains and improves daily operations of therapy departments. The departments may be multi-disciplinary, inpatient or outpatient services across multiple locations or distinct practice settings.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Daily operations.
    • Departmental staffing to match volume and service needs.
    • Ensures department, hospital and patient needs are met as monitored by metrics.
    • Lead the patient scheduling process.
    • Recruits and retains clinical staff with diverse backgrounds, education and experience.
    • Recommends, implements and evaluates plans and systems that assure sufficient number of staff to provide services.
    • Manages the overall performance of the clinic operations, including performance reviews, performance management, and recruitment.
    • Provide information regarding performance and department-specific activities and accomplishments.
  • Manage clinical care.
    • Develops and oversees department to ensure alignment to organizational mission, vision, values, strategic goals and business strategies.
    • Ensure care delivery is consistent with standards of care and current clinical practice guidelines, program requirements, regulatory and payer requirements.
    • Ensures a culture and environment of safety for patients, staff and visitors
    • Complies and responds to regulatory and accreditation requirements, incident reports, medication safety and policies or procedures.
    • Review chart audits, quality, satisfaction and outcomes data.
    • Deliver clinical care, depending on the accountability of the manager, the number of direct reports, and the number of programs and services.
    • Defines, interprets, monitors and maintains standards of practice.
    • Utilizes process improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of the service or care provided within the department.
    • Utilizes data to develop, implement, monitor and maintain a realistic, cost-effective annual budget and to effectively manage productivity within the department.
  • Department budget.
    • Manage productivity, financial performance and census including data entry and analysis.
    • Accountable for operations within annual or monthly budget.
    • Decision making authority to meet budget requirements.
    • Contribute to annual budget process in partnership with local and system leadership.
    • Budget variance analysis reviewed with local leadership for action planning.
    • Grow patient volume, programs and services consistent with strategic plan.
    • Accountable for minor purchasing and capital purchasing process in collaboration with local hospital and department leadership.
  • Community outreach and service line representation.
    • Represent service line at system or hospital meetings.
    • Collaborate and lead across the system and informally represent services within the community.
    • System/hospital wide and community outreach to build or address services.
    • Strategic planning and formal community linkages in collaboration with local and CKRI leadership.
    • May collaborate with nurse leadership to support clinical nurse practice in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
  • Aquatic and Fitness Program Management, if applicable.
    • Design and development fitness programs, may include health promotional services, multiple sites and programs.
    • Provide on-going business plan reviews on existing programs, new services and contract services.
    • May collaborate with director of public policy and research to seek grant support, raise funds through charitable and corporate giving.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a rehabilitation field (occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech language pathology)
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in clinical rehabilitation
  • 2 to 5 years of supervisory or management experience

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certified Occupational Therapist - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy required or
  • Certified Speech Language Pathologist - American Speech Language Hearing Association required or
  • Licensed Physical Therapist - MN State Board of Physical Therapy required

Physical Demands

  • Medium Work*:
  • Lifting weight Up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), Up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $49.10 to $67.93 per hour The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience and education. Additional incentives may be available, including discretionary monetary bonuses, goal-based bonuses, and other financial incentives.
