Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

What We're Looking For:

If you have several years of experience leading government proposals to completion, then you will be excited about the Associate Proposal Director opening with Iridium on our Government Team! As an Associate Proposal Director, you will lead and work cross-functionally to complete quality proposals within tight deadlines to ultimately win new business for our team. In this role, you will be tasked primarily with leading all proposals, maintaining the proposal development process, and driving change to improve our ability to respond to proposals as well as ensuring compliance working with all stakeholders. You will succeed in this role if you have a strong knowledge of Microsoft tools, are organized, and detail-oriented with solid project management skills and thrive at working with multiple stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

    Manage the internal proposal writing process for the Government team, from drafting content to ensuring timely submission and securing internal approvals
  • Ensure proposals meet all compliance requirements by verifying completeness, facilitating reviews, and compiling all necessary artifacts
  • Identify process gaps and inefficiencies in the proposal development lifecycle, and drive continuous improvements across stakeholders in collaboration with the Contracts and Vendor Management team
  • Leverage broad knowledge of key departments - including finance, program management, contracts management, technical teams, procurement, and business development - to effectively coordinate proposal efforts
  • Work independently to initiate, manage, and track proposals through manual processes using Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office products
  • Drive the completion of high-quality proposals under tight deadlines while maintaining compliance and accuracy


Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in the defense and/or satellite industry
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft tools such as SharePoint, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and recognize and adapt to different communication techniques
  • Be a strategic thinker who demonstrates good judgment and decisiveness
  • Be able to analyze a situation or problem and come up with effective solutions
  • Can easily form relationships with executive leadership and encourage cross-functional team building
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment using strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks according to deadline and budget limitations
  • Be proactive in finding new and enhanced ways of doing things and sharing your knowledge with others

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Possess an active/current Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

We'll also need you to:

  • Be able to travel up to 20%
  • Be a U.S. Citizen

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
