About the Department:


The Reva and Sid Dewberry Family School of Music's mission is to enable every student to find his or her best musical voice; prepare each to fulfill society's need for artistic and innovative musicians, scholars, music educators, and ambassadors for the arts; and graduate each with hope, confidence, and distinction.


About the Position:


The Adjunct Applied Viola Professor will teach individualized lessons, starting August 25, 2025.


Responsibilities:



  • Teach Applied Viola during daytime hours on campus;
  • Provide leadership to Mason's Viola Studio to include coordination of studio classes as well as on-campus and off-campus performances and events;
  • Coordinate recruitment for the Viola Studio;
  • Coordinate recitals and juries for the Viola Studio; and
  • Participate in the Strings Area initiatives, including performances, faculty recitals, auditions, etc.


Required Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree in Music required;
  • Successful experience teaching at the college level;
  • Desire to work with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds; and
  • Established reputation as a Violist including live performances and recordings.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Doctorate in Music preferred.
