Job Summary:

Directs functional daily activities of the transport team on designated shift.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.

  • Assumes responsibility for department operation in the absence of the Manager including staffing issues, troubleshooting situations and acting as a resource for staff, nursing and ancillary departments in regard to transportation services.

  • Ensures that transportation services are performed on schedule and in a timely manner through the monitoring of Epic Transport System, Zone Assignments, Mini-tasks and Stat assignments.

  • Investigates and resolves any issues that may arise on designated shift. Notifies Manager of those actions requiring immediate attention. Documents on Lead Shift Report.

  • Supports established hospital mission/policies, departmental policies and procedures, continuous quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

  • Demonstrates awareness of customer relations by maintaining a positive rapport and a cooperative working relationship with all customers including but not limited to: patients, family members, visitors, physicians, nursing and ancillary departments.

  • Knowledgeable of equipment used in patient care: Golvo, Viking Lifts, Shuttle Chair, slide and roller boards, overhead frame, traction, Evacuation chair, Med Sled, gait belt and liquid/compressed gas oxygen containers. Responsible for location, care and maintenance of department equipment (companion phone, pager, wheelchair, oxygen and stretcher).

  • Transports to morgue, documents on log and releases expired patients. Checks morgue and morgue log daily

  • Respects the privacy of patients/customers and the confidentiality of information.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:

A. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

B. Must have 6 months of experience as a Transporter with Baptist Health Louisville.

C. BCLS required (due within 90 days)
