Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Summary: The Laboratory Assistant II/Floater Hospital Lab. Asst is responsible for assisting the pathologists, pathology assistants, histology, cytology and or molecular staff as needed to ensure proper workflow of the departments; daily duties may include instrument maintenance/cleaning, quality assurance and data entry: this position may prepare specimens using specific technical equipment and procedures. Incumbent will primarily work at Tukwila Technical Lab but may be asked to cover at the Hospital

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs all duties as an Lab. Assistant.
  • Ability to perform support functions in the laboratory.
  • Maintains equipment, instruments, and supplies as needed.
  • Provide accurate and timely receiving and processing of specimens.
  • Assist PA's, Histology, Cytology and Molecular departments as needed.
  • Performs Sendouts.
  • Maintains knowledge of current CAP requirements and State & Federal regulations
  • Quality control data entry
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent: Associates or bachelor's degree in laboratory science preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Laboratory experience preferred.
  • Competency with computers and MS Office programs
  • Ability to maintain accuracy, especially with numeric sequencing.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Adhere to HIPAA patient confidentiality standards.
  • Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Ability to pass a standardized color-blind test.

Pay Range: $20.100 - $28.00 USD Hourly

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Generally, new hire offers will be between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range, depending on experience (DOE), with the ability to grow within the range over time.
