Metra is one of the largest and most complex commuter rail systems in North America, serving Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake, Kane, and McHenry Counties. The agency is linking communities in Northeastern Illinois by providing safe, reliable, and efficient commuter service.

Financial Affairs is headed by the Chief Financial Officer and divided into four groups: Treasury; Accounting, Budget and Management Analysis and Business Efficiency & Process Improvement. The core mission of these groups is to provide accurate financial information so that Metra can run its business efficiently. Together these departments employ approximately 100 people.

Reporting to the Supervisor Corporate Treasury, the Treasury Associate Analyst will provide support to the teams responsible for cash management, banking, and investment activities; act as the liaison between departments; and ensure the confidentiality of treasury information is maintained.

The primary duties include: Verify, validate, and update banking information of vendors, employees, and retirees in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Assist with treasury and revenue accounting data analyses to identify trends on data related to cash flow, bank fees, check volume, etc; and contribute to the preparation of reports on findings for management. Print checks and generate positive pay files for banks; and monitor check stock inventory to replenish when needed. May assist with stop payment requests; voiding of stale dated checks; and notifying applicable departments of the receipt of capital reimbursements. Act as the liaison to facilitate communication between internal departments, and external organizations or groups. Promote safe work practices and maintain and foster a safe work environment. Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree or in lieu of a degree any combination of education and experience may be substituted that equals four (4) years in providing support in a banking, treasury, finance or similar work environment.
  2. Knowledge of treasury concepts and functions or banking products and services.
  3. Knowledge of office procedures and equipment.
  4. Understanding of banking regulations and compliance requirements.
  5. Intermediate skills in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  6. Familiar with ERP systems for accounting or finance.
  7. Good written and verbal communication skills to respond to internal and external inquiries especially via phone and email.
  8. Good organization and analytical skills with an attention to detail to interpret data.
  9. Ability to conduct financial analyses and prepare reports in support of treasury decisions.
  10. Ability to identify trends and solve problems.
  11. Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  12. Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and meet strict deadlines
  13. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
