Staff, Software Engineer

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Summary:

As a technical leader in the JUNOS Routing Protocols group, you will join the team responsible for the routing software that is central to all of Juniper's products. You will design, develop, and maintain IP routing protocols like IGP, BGP, RSVP-TE, SR, L3VPN, EVPN. You will work on projects to build new and innovative products & solutions to meet evolving customer requirements, including sustenance of field issues. Some of the key charters of the team - Improving scale and performance, provide solutions for cloud native environments, incorporate AI/ML based automation, monitoring, diagnostics, and decision making for self-healing networks and comprehensive streaming telemetry. You will be part of the most dynamic team in Juniper where you will have the opportunity to contribute to the continuous evolution of the internet, cloud networks and shape our next generation AI-Native products & solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of UNIX internals, systems programming, computer architecture, and networking fundamentals
  • Extensive background in systems programming
  • Proficiency in design, C/C++/Rust programming, and system debugging
  • Familiarity with advanced networking concepts such as TCP/IP, gRPC, and Thrift is highly desirable
  • In-depth understanding and experience with routing protocols like BGP, IGP, LDP, RSVP, and SR is required
  • Experience in cloud-native networking, monitoring, and analytics applications for ingesting real-time network data and detecting anomalies is a plus
  • Experience with SDN controllers, APIs, and telemetry is a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively both within and outside the company

Minimum Salary: $194,400.00

Maximum Salary:$279,450.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $194,400.00 and $279,450.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Juniper's pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
