Job Summary
The Sustainability Intern handles various tasks and projects to advance sustainability objectives across the enterprise.
Primary Objectives
- Engage with internal stakeholders to analyze environmental sustainability data and identify gaps and opportunities for sustainability improvement projects.
- Conduct research, perform analysis, and deliver reports on findings on sustainability-related topics as assigned.
- Monitor, facilitate, and communicate progress of the Company's sustainability programs and ensure program objectives are consistent with strategies, goals, measurements, and reporting standards.
- Monitor renewable resources, sustainable work processes, and environmental science trends to ensure proper sustainability benchmarks are established to support management's strategies in maintaining the Company's industry leadership role.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with internal and external resources to coordinate the writing, layout, approval and publishing of sustainability reports to support the company branding as an industry sustainability leader.
- Synthesize insights into professional, easy-to-understand presentations and/or memos.
- Organize and maintain project details, follow-ups, materials, and databases.
- Support responses to sustainability inquiries from external parties, including conducting research as needed.
- Execute and oversee projects related to energy, water, and waste conservation.
- Assist with energy benchmarking.
- Complete various clerical tasks, including filing, data entry, document scanning and processing, organizing of files and materials, and assembly/collation of mailings, presentation materials, and information packets.
- May assist with phone and email correspondence and inquiries, research, and related tasks.
- May assist with data audit and reconciliation.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
- A rising junior, senior, or recent college graduate pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental sustainability. required
Work Experience
- Experience conducting research and synthesizing insights into clear and professional presentations or written reports required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledgeable in LCA/environmental audit tools.
- Knowledge of Greenhouse Gas (Scope 1, 2, 3) emissions and emission reduction strategies.
- Knowledge of waste and water resource optimization and impact reduction strategies.
- Knowledge of GHG Net Reduction pathways.
- Familiar with climate risk assessment and strategies for mitigation, adaptation, and resiliency.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to set priorities, organize work, and work in high production environment while responding quickly and effectively under pressure, changing priorities and tight timelines/deadlines preferred.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a geographically dispersed team within a matrix management environment preferred.
- Demonstrated time management skills with a high level of proficiency with MS Office Suite and the ability to learn new software quickly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to provide creative solutions to real-time challenges with consistent follow through preferred.
- Attention to detail and accuracy, ability to learn quickly, seek out answers, generate ideas, and develop new skills preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information and convey concepts, ideas, and information preferred.
