Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- 60% Supervise R&D Lab team members
- Make sure test requests are prioritized and completed by due dates.
- Perform year end reviews of team members under Lab Supervisor's report.
- Lead team in development of new tests by designing fixtures and test programs.
- Interface with Engineering customer to confirm test requirements, then deliver testing and results.
- Train new R&D Lab employees on PPE requirements, LOTO, and safe operation of equipment.
- Maximize up time of lab equipment by performing maintenance and coordinating service as needed.
- Mentor co-workers to help develop machining skills and knowledge of how to run test equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work area.
- 40% Ability to perform all duties of a Senior R&D Engineering Technician (below).
- Perform machining necessary to benchmark test and make prototypes for product development.
- Use CAD to create fixturing and components to support product engineers as they develop new product.
- Program and operate in-house CNC lathe, manual mill, manual lathe, and custom spinner.
- Setup, run and monitor test equipment and report test results to product engineers.
- Participate in design review meetings with product engineers and provide feedback on machining, testing, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Coordinate prototype and testing projects and delegate work to R&D team or external suppliers.
- Develop fixtures / layouts necessary for testing.
Minimum Requirements: Education:
- Trade / technical school certifications or associate's degree in discipline relevant to position.
- Bachelor's degree in discipline relevant to position; preferred.
Experience:
- Machining experience and ability to interpret drawings 5-10 years' experience, Lab testing experience 5-10 years .
Skills:
- Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office 365, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Skills with CAD and ability to create fixture drawings.
- Proficiency with CNC and manual machining and measuring parts.
- Attention to detail, self-motivated, ability to understand concepts and problem solve on your own.
- Knowledge of ISO quality systems.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Ability to work and communicate with engineers and management capacity to manage diverse workloads from multiple sources
- Keen sense to meet commitments and maintain professional demeanor.
- Ability to coach and motivate team members.
