Fiber and Collection Engineer Location(s): Granville, OH, US, 43023-1200 Function: Research and Development Audience: Experienced Professional Work Arrangement: Hybrid Requisition ID: 64776 PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Fiber and Collection Engineer leads development of new technologies from a fundamental science approach that delivers greater manufacturing productivity and product quality with capital-efficient operations. This position requires a deep understanding of the physics and engineering challenges involved in fiberizing at high temperatures and rotational speeds, as well as proficiency in mechanical engineering, heat transfer and turbulent fluid flow. This extends to the engineering challenges of collecting fibers from a high-flow, turbulent air stream to achieve uniform weight distribution and optimal pack structure that deliver desirable thermal and mechanical properties to the product. The engineer will utilize physical experimentation, theoretical models, and advanced numerical modeling tools for designing and analyzing fiberizing and collection systems with the goal to enhance performance while using scientific approaches that balance accuracy and cost. The engineer is also responsible to work with an extended team to translate the fundamental understanding into practical designs for evaluation in venues that range from a laboratory environment to an industrial manufacturing plant.
