Job Overview
The Roofer Maintenance performs general roofing maintenance including minor repairs. This role is inclusive of lightning protection inspections and associated minor repairs. Work involves planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments, and making standard computations relating to dimensions of work; and selecting materials necessary for the work. The work requires rounded training and experience from an apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience. This role is a full-time onsite role at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. Work Model: Onsite
Responsibilities
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Perform maintenance and repair work on various types of roofing systems, i.e. metal, pitched and tar material.
- Performs minor repairs and preventive maintenance to roofing and lightning protection systems.
- Assists maintenance carpentry team as needed.
- Plan, organize work and meet all deadlines. Able to do a variety of tasks in any single day.
- Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
- Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
- Able to inspect and diagnose problems to determine corrective repairs.
- Ability to conduct accurate job material estimating.
- Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
- Assists with periodic stock inventories and prepares material requisitions for replacement items.
- Required to safely operate customer and company motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
- Will be required to perform various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.
- Assists and supports other trade groups and/or department staff in daily operations as needed.
- Adheres to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Five (5) years of commercial roofing experience completing similar work.
- Familiarity with basic mathematical functions is required.
- Knowledge of required hand and power tools.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards.
- Ability to perform assigned work tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to utilize computer tablet to view work orders and order parts.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, 75 lbs. with assistance.
- Able to sit, stand, walk, drive, kneel, squat, bend, crawl, stoop, reach, climb ladders, work in tight spaces.
- High School Diploma, or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
- Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.
- Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required.
- U.S. Citizenship.
