Job Summary
Director of Global Commercial Operations, is a strategic, high-performing leader to drive excellence across three critical areas of our Life Science commercial ecosystem: Inside Sales, Sales Support, and Sales Operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll empower a diverse global team, optimize the quote-to-shipment lifecycle, and deliver flawless customer experiences - all while scaling systems, enhancing analytics, and contributing directly to sustained revenue growth. This role is the heartbeat of our commercial infrastructure - uniting data, people, and processes. This role is instrumental in aligning Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, Finance, and IT, ensuring our teams are enabled, engaged, and executing at the highest level.
Key Duties
Inside Sales Strategy & Execution * Lead and develop the global Inside Sales team to exceed territory goals, conversion targets, and pipeline growth * Build and execute regional business development strategies, from lead generation to qualified opportunity handoffs. * Ensure accurate pipeline, forecast, and quote management within SFDC. * Champion market responsiveness through strategic outreach, proactive customer engagement, and CRM-driven campaigns * Support career pathing for Inside Sales to develop talent for potential roles in field sales. * Prepare proposals for customers to include quotations, product literature, and performance specifications. Guide Inside Sales to tailor proposals to the business and application needs of the customer. * Establish and re-establish customer relationships by contacting new or inactive accounts/prospects. Specific functions may include introducing products, sales programs and promotions to assist business development. * Ownership of the LS budget as it relates to the global inside sales team. * Create a report valuable KPIs that will drive the business forward as it is related to top and middle of the sales funnel activities. * Prospect and identify new customers and drive towards a target for each rep to complete on a annual basis. * Ownership of scorecards to show performance on both a quantitative and qualitative level for each Inside Sales Rep and Manager. Sales Support Excellence * Lead a customer-centric Sales Support team responsible for flawless order execution, complaint resolution, and global sales support (including China WFOE and export documentation) * Streamline the entire order fulfillment process - from order entry to shipment - in alignment with commercial policies and systems. * Serve as a working manager in complex functions (e.g., VAT calculation, global invoicing, documentation compliance) * Global Account coordination and order management as needed in support of business needs * Ensure team's work is done effectively, accurately, and on time and is consistent with standard guidelines and SOP requirements * Proper oversight of the team to manage the customer journey from order entry to shipment. * Identify and proactively suggest improvements based on size, scope, and complexity of the role to further develop sales and support teams * Accepts responsibility for Order Processing/Customer Service and communicates and maintains adherence to Meridian's corporate policies and procedures * Monitors PO to Quote to ensure pricing is within approved guidelines and minimum thresholds are met for customer purchase orders Sales Operations & Analytics * Own and continuously improve the quote-to-shipment experience across global regions. * Lead our commercial tech stack (Salesforce, CPQ, Infor XA, EDI ordering portal) - including system enhancements, data integrity, and automation. * Drive strategic reporting and dashboards on KPIs, sales forecasts, margin trends, and conversion rates. * Design and administer global incentive compensation and commission plans. * Partner with regional sales leaders to support territory design, strategic alignment, and business growth planning. * Report our product promotions and campaigns, including sample activities, review and identify strategic growth opportunities * Own the end-to-end Life Science revenue forecasting process, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment across Field Sales, Inside Sales, Commercial Leadership, Operations, and Procurement * Drive cross-functional collaboration to validate assumptions, identify risk/opportunities, and build a forecast that the business can act on with confidence * Build and maintain dashboards and reports that tracks forecast accuracy, pipeline velocity, regional performance, and deal conversion * Identify trends and outliers in sales performance and customer behavior, turning insights into strategic recommendations. Champion a forecast culture that is data-driven transparent, and responsive to realtimecommercial dynamics. Total Job * Partner with Commercial Leadership to shape the long-term commercial roadmap, including new market expansion, channel optimization, and organizational design * Identify opportunities for revenue diversification, portfolio penetration, and customer segmentation to unlock incremental growth * Evaluate and implement structure changes based on customer behavior, buying patterns, and market shifts * Develop commercial playbooks by partnering with Marketing on go-to-market strategies that enable new product launches with territory alignment and sales enablement tools * Develop and launch sales enablement tools as needed by the business and ensure the sales and support teams are getting the training needed to be successful * Translate Voice of Sales and customer insights into recommendations that influence the product roadmap and customer engagement strategies from business systems to sales enablement tools * Lead the evaluation and deployment of next-generation digital sales tools, including revenue intelligence, AI-driven insights, and automation platforms that improve sales productivity * Champion digital transformation initiatives that align with future-state commercial operating models * Drive a culture of performance accountability and strategic visibility through quarterly business reviews, territory health reports, and commercial scorecards * Evaluate team structure and resources identifying and reporting needs as business needs change/grown
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Life Science, Data Analytics, or Information Systems required * Master's degree preferred, particularly in Life Science or related field * 7+ years' professional level experience in Sales Operations, Inside Sales, or Sales Support function(s) within life science, diagnostics, or biotech industry * 5+ years' leadership experience within a similar industry and function * Proven success managing Salesforce and commercial systems (CPQ, ERP, EDI, CRM/Marketing Platforms) * 5 years hands on experience designing and implementing business systems for scalability and sustainability * Experience in global operations and commercial leadership projects * Distinct knowledge of the Life Science Industry as it relates to needs and overall landscape * Experience in configuring and customizing Salesforce objects, workflows, validation rules, and process automation * In-depth knowledge of Salesforce/HubSpot custom integration for lead tracking, generation, and full pipeline management * In-depth knowledge of Salesforce CPQ functionality, including product configuration, pricing rules, quote management, and integration with other Salesforce modules * Experience designing and utilizing Service Cloud for automation of case flows and reporting dashboards in real time *All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other legally protected status.
