Our pairing experience includes a commitment to local ingredients drawn from a 50-mile radius of the winery. We are seeking a Tasting Room Lead that will supporttasting room operations in a manner that achieves the establishedfinancial goals, ensures a rich consumer experience, builds consumer loyalty, and reflects the J Winery brand essence. The lead demonstrates superior product knowledge, effectively educates guests and staff using productpresentations, and provides exceptional sales and customer service to winery guests.

What You Will Do:

  • Prepares the tasting room for daily opening and closing.
  • Functions as an informed resource for consumers regarding winemaking, winegrowing, and winevintages, availability of products and brand award and accolades.
  • Understands and effectively communicates the Brand message.
  • Promotes and procures Wine Club memberships.
  • Conducts large group tours, VIP, and Trade tastings.
  • Represents Tasting Room at winery events.
  • In the absence of the Tasting Room Supervisor, monitors tasting room staff, ensuring allemployees are assigned to appropriate venues. Makes decisions based upon tasting roomcapacity, staff, guests, etc. when necessary.
  • Participates in group tastings, Wine Club events and guest experiences at the tasting room
  • Supports the wine education amongst Tasting Room staff
  • Provide constructive feedback on Tasting Room staff to Supervisor or Assistant Manager
  • Execute outreach tastings and hosts or pours at off-site outreach events including industrytastings and consumer events
  • Acts as the lead in the higher level venues, ensuring all guests receive best in class service andattention.
  • Ensures the communication of and adherence to Tasting Room protocol for the securemanagement of sensitive customer data
  • Represents the company and brand, professionally, graciously and enthusiastically.

What You Will Need:

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate, plus 6 years of tasting room,customer service, retail sales, wine industry, hospitality, team management, public relations,marketing or teaching and educating others experience reflecting increasing levels ofresponsibility; OR Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of tasting room, customer service, retail sales,wine industry, hospitality, team management, public relations, marketing or teaching andeducating others experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Required to be 21 years of age or older.
  • Required to work weekends and a flexible schedule as needed.
  • Required to engage in frequent walking and standing.
  • Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Experienced in writing simple correspondence and procedures.
  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using wholenumbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Lift and move product weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience executing tasks that required attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience executing tasks or job functions that require good organizational skills and engagingin functions using own initiative.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training,meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of thetime, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, ifapplicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable,as listed in this job description.

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Hospitality Management plus 2 years of winesales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree plus 4 yearsof tasting room, customer service, retail sales, wine industry, hospitality, team management,public relations, direct to consumer marketing or wine education experience reflecting increasinglevels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate, plus 8years of tasting room, customer service, retail sales, wine industry, hospitality, team management,public relations, direct to consumer marketing or wine education experience reflecting increasinglevels of responsibility.
  • Possession of CSW, Certified Sommelier or WSET Advanced Certifications.
  • Skilled in communication, presentation, sales and customer service.
  • Skilled in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Skilled in applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Knowledge of wine and wine production.
  • Knowledge of federal and state legal compliance related to tasting room operations preferred.
  • Skilled in personal selling, time management, and public speaking.
  • Experience effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group situations tocustomers, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Experience solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Experience training and leading others.

Compensation:

  • Set rate listed as $31.00 / hr - $31.00 / hr
