Mechanic

Are you a hands-on problem solver with a passion for machinery and mechanical systems? Staffmark is hiring a Mechanic to support a leading food production facility in Avery Island, LA. In this vital role, you'll be responsible for maintaining high-speed production equipment, performing detailed troubleshooting, and ensuring minimal downtime on critical manufacturing lines.

Pay & Schedule:

• $21-$22/hour
• Day Shift: Monday-Friday (10-12 hour shifts)

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on high-speed production equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and visual inspections
• Repair or replace defective parts using hand/power tools; measure components for wear
• Monitor equipment performance and ensure optimal line operation
• Assist with mechanical/electrical adjustments; escalate complex issues to leads
• Collaborate with team leads and planners to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime
• Maintain inventory of parts and supplies; ensure accurate maintenance records
• Support line changeovers and general equipment cleaning
• Follow all safety protocols, GMP standards, and company procedures
• Perform additional duties as directed by the supervisor or engineering team

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of industrial mechanical/electrical maintenance experience in a production environment
• Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment schematics
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems (CMMS)
• Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices
• Strong attention to detail, urgency, and ability to adapt to change
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in hot/cold or confined environments
• Willingness to learn and grow as part of a collaborative team
