Lipscomb Academy Hockey, a program with a strong track record of excellence and a winning culture, is seeking an experienced, motivated, and visionary Head Hockey Coach to guide our athletes to continued success. This is a unique opportunity to take the helm of a well-established team with a championship pedigree and a dedicated support system.

Duties & Responsibilities:



  1. Coaching & Player Development

    • USA Hockey Level 4 Certification or higher
    • All Certifications required by GNASH Hockey in timely fashion
    • Design and implement effective practice plans that build team skills and individual development.
    • Teach game strategies, tactics, and fundamentals (skating, passing, shooting, etc.).
    • Analyze game performance through video review and in-game observation.
    • Provide personalized feedback and support to help players grow on and off the ice.


  2. Leadership & Team Management

    • Foster a positive, competitive, and disciplined team culture.
    • Lead by example in demonstrating sportsmanship, integrity, and commitment.
    • Resolve conflicts and manage team dynamics.
    • Develop and enforce team rules, expectations, and codes of conduct.


  3. Game Day Management

    • Plan line combinations and strategies for games.
    • Make real-time decisions and adjustments during games.
    • Review performance post-game and identify areas for improvement.


  4. Roster Management

    • Evaluate players' abilities to ensure a competitive and balanced roster.
    • Organize and oversee tryouts and player evaluations.


  5. Administrative Responsibilities

    • Coordinate with assistant coaches, trainers, and support staff.
    • Handle scheduling for practices, games, and travel.
    • Communicate with athletic directors, league officials, and parents (as needed).
    • Maintain accurate records (attendance, performance, medical info, etc.).


  6. Equipment & Facilities

    • Ensure players have proper equipment and uniforms.
    • Oversee the maintenance and scheduling of facilities (ice time, locker rooms).
    • Work with team staff to manage gear, uniforms, and other logistics.


  7. Safety & Compliance

    • Prioritize player health and safety, including injury prevention and management.
    • Ensure compliance with league rules, eligibility, and governing body regulations.
    • Promote respect, diversity, and inclusion within the team and broader community.
