Job Description |
The Learning Center Manager leads the development and implementation of innovative academic support programs that drive student success. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators, the Learning Center Manager creates and implements dynamic, data-driven initiatives that enhance learning experiences for a diverse student population. This role also oversees the day-to-day operations of the College's Learning Center and is responsible for analyzing service usage data; training, scheduling, and supervising staff; and ensuring effective and efficient operations.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide visionary leadership to develop and expand academic support services that proactively address student learning needs.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuously exploring new strategies, technologies, and approaches to enhance student success.
- Recruit, mentor, supervise, and inspire a team of academic tutors, ensuring a student-centered and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify academic challenges and implement targeted, evidence-based interventions.
- Design, assess, and refine data-informed academic support initiatives, workshops, and services that promote skill development and academic confidence.
- Develop and implement data-driven procedures to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Participate in college committees and workgroups related to student success and academic support.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education |
Master's degree in a related field required. |
Required Experience |
Minimum of 2 years of experience in academic support services and 2 years of supervisory experience |
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities |
- Experience developing and implementing innovative, data-driven academic initiatives, services, and workshops.
- Strong understanding of academic support practices, tutoring methodologies, and high-impact practices.
- Knowledge of learning strategies for diverse student populations, including underrepresented and first-generation college students.
- Experience using data and assessment tools to evaluate program effectiveness and guide decision-making.
- Experience managing teams and coordinating programs or services.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to supervise operations of the Learning Center, including hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff, delegating workloads, and monitoring equipment
- Proficiency with educational technologies, online tutoring platforms, and online learning platforms
- Ability to assist with budgetary functions

Preferred Qualifications |
- Two years of experience working in an academic learning center at a community college
- Tutoring experience at the college level
CRLA training and experience leading CRLA-certified programs

General Weekly Work Schedule |
Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and evening hours may be required. Final schedule to be determined by the supervisor. |
