DUTIES
Duties:
- Apply technical experience in eld of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical elds, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.
- Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and dicult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
- Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
- Develop solutions to complex technical problems in elds of expertise.
- Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world.
- Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers.
- Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
- Lead task teams to develop solutions to more complex problems.
- Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identied by management.
- Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed.
- Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.
- Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.
- Prepare reports for external publication.
Education & Years of Experience:
- Advanced Civil Engineering degree and relevant experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experienceORa MS degree and 12 years' experienceORa BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience.
Skills:
Considered an internal expert in area of expertise.
- Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations.
- Can solve complex problems in field.
- Must demonstrate 8 years recent experience in design and analysis of NRC or DOE regulated nuclear facilities.
- Experience with finite element analysis is required.
- Must demonstrate working knowledge of STAAD, ANSYS or ABAQUS or similar computer codes.
- Must demonstrate working knowledge of National Codes and Standards; specifically, IBC, AISC (ASD, LRFD, & N690), ACI (318 & 349) and ASCE (4, 7 & 43).
- Must be able to perform field walk-downs to document as-installed conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possessed an active clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
- Experience utilizing EVMS on DOE or NNSA projects.
- Experience working with DOE/NNSA customers.
- Project experience utilizing DOE 413.3 guidelines.
- Previous SRS site experience.

- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance (an active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties).
