Summary

Under the direction of the Vice President of Finance, assists with financial planning and budgeting processes, analyzing financial statements and reports, developing financial models, and preparing projections across MFB subsidiaries and clinical service lines. Works with the Vice President of Mary Free Bed Advisory Group to develop partnerships and professional services agreements throughout the post-acute continuum. Evaluates the feasibility of new programs and facilitates implementation.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Explores opportunities for Mary Free Bed to develop and/or to partner with other health care providers in the development of new or existing post-acute services
    • Creates business plans for new ventures including sensitivity analysis and ROI
  • Uses decision support tools appropriately
  • Analyzes bed needs and financial feasibility.
  • Identifies relationships with referral partners and assesses the potential patient volumes.
  • Evaluates physical space requirements, availability within existing facility, needs for additional construction, renovation and equipment, and resources available to meet these needs.
  • Assesses other potential operational roadblocks to integration of the rehab unit with partner facility and the MFB Network, i.e. systems integration issues, differences in processes, standards of care, organizational culture.
  • Completes market assessments using various databases
  • Manages 3rd party consultants related to evaluating transactions (ie: valuations, auditors)
  • Identifies requirements and recommends effective processes to obtain required approvals from governmental and other regulatory bodies, including Certificate of Need, licensures, accreditations, etc.
  • Facilitates transition of new or integrated inpatient program to Operations:
    • Establishes project timeline, objectives and goals.
    • Facilitates integration of new program financials with Mary Free Bed accounting.
  • Presents to Mary Free Bed executives and Advisory Group clients.
    • Presents consulting conclusions, data analysis and feasibility studies.
    • Works with clients to obtain necessary facility specific data as requested to perform consulting and discovery projects
  • Provides financial expertise to the Mary Free Bed including but not limited to:
    • Industry trends and risk mitigation
    • Financial statement analysis

      Reimbursement, capacity analysis, operational efficiencies, etc.

    • Investment analysis
    • Annual Budgeting
    • Financial opportunities
    • Develop financial models through benchmarking and process analysis, compare anticipated and actual results and identify areas of improvement
  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
    • Creates graphical representations of data using a variety of data management systems. Integrates graphs into reports and presentation documents.
    • Develops relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
    • Researching, conducting analysis and contributing to white papers that are distributed by the organization
    • Staying current with CMS, State, and healthcare laws, trends and regulations as they pertain to specific projects
    • Oversight of interns/students as appropriate
    • Willing to travel by plane and car on overnight trips as appropriate

Essential Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, Masters Degree preferred.
    • A minimum of 5 years of related FP&A or M&A experience, preferably within the healthcare market.
    • Ability to use various decision support tools
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and data visualization
  • Excellent data, statistical and system analysis skills.
    • Ability to develop and implement a customized plan that addresses and delivers solutions unique to each partner/customer.
    • High level of discernment regarding business plans and decisions.
