Field Engineer I

The Field Engineer I is an entry-level position with the goal of filling the Quality Control Manager role on jobsites. For the first 4-6 months in this position, you will be working in the office to learn about our work, requirements, and processes. After gaining this essential knowledge, you will work on various jobsites to shadow the onsite Quality Control Manager to learn about daily reporting and responsibilities (Field Engineer II). Once fully trained, you will fill the role as the onsite Quality Control Manager (Field Engineer III). This position requires frequent travel to various job sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

These duties are those typically performed in this position. Employee may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties.



  • Assist in conducting site inspections to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Assist with Metrology (precision measuring using field laser) using and ATS 600/AT 960.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to approved drawings.
  • Document and report any deviations, defects, or non-conformities in construction work.
  • Verify that materials and equipment meet project requirements and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate quality control records, including inspection reports, checklists, and test results.
  • Assist in preparing daily progress reports and quality assurance logs.
  • Help track and resolve punch list items related to quality issues.
  • Identify potential quality risks and propose corrective actions.
  • Assist in root cause analysis of defects or rework issues.
  • Suggest improvements to enhance construction quality and efficiency.
  • Work within and promote corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or learned within a short period of time to successfully perform the assigned duties.



  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of construction materials, methods, and blueprints. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Procore, or construction management software is a plus.
  • Must be willing and have the ability to travel to different project locations up to 85% of the time.
  • OSHA 10/30-hour training, or quality control-related certifications preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.

  • Lifting/carrying objects 50 lbs. or more.
  • Lifting from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead.
  • Frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, crawling up to 8+ hours per day.
  • Frequent climbing multiple flights of stairs.
  • Climbing and maintaining balance on ladders or stools reaching in all directions.
  • Handling and manipulating objects and materials.
  • Coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers.
  • Seeing with or without correction.
