Position Summary:

The Facilities Mechanical Technician II is responsible for general building and equipment maintenance in a modern industrial manufacturing and office facility. This is a hand-on position that requires 2-5 of years of experience and demonstrated ability to work independently. This individual will work autonomously under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor and must work well in a team environment. This individual must work well with other trades, Facilities personnel, and always keep in mind our goal is to support Manufacturing, Production, and all internal personnel.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Conduct physical inspections of the facility, grounds, premises, common areas, restrooms, mechanical spaces, etc.
  • Aid in manufacturing production equipment repairs. Initiate repairs when recognized and perform overall inspection of the work completed.
  • Interpret schematic diagrams to identify repair components and to correct malfunctions and abnormalities.
  • Assess and determine proper welding methods when required along with an ability to weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Intermediate skills and knowledge to work outside of normal Facilities duties completing tasks such as drywall repair and painting, carpentry, assembly and disassembly of cubicle systems, inventory management, place deicing materials on sidewalks, and computerized building automation/management systems, as well as other miscellaneous maintenance duties to ensure Production is ready at all times.
  • Prioritize work orders, handling urgent requests.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspection of assigned equipment in accordance with maintenance schedule and factory specifications. Report findings and take appropriate actions for repair.
  • Oversee and coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or installations.
  • This position is a traveling position and must travel between all assigned SIG locations per schedule.
  • Identify and communicate with Supervisor regarding concerns with safety practices on job sites.
  • Seek ways to assist others sometimes without being asked while completing assigned tasks on time, displaying a high degree of professionalism with a collaborative attitude.
  • Participate on problem solving teams for driving to root cause of internal and external quality failures, particularly related to prevention of customer escapes.
  • Engage in and actively volunteer for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Education/Experience & Skills:



  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2-5 years of previous experience required in a trade or mechanical position.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Must have an intermediate understanding and knowledge of building systems such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of programmable logic controllers.
  • Intermediate problem-solving abilities for complex technical issues.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings/blueprints.
  • Intermediate use of computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Building Controls Systems (BMS), and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Must be able to operate equipment including but not limited to powered industrial trucks, aerial lifts, and light commercial vehicles.
  • Intermediate welding skills.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Must complete all assigned tasks on time and sometimes ahead of schedule.


Working Conditions:



  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
  • Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
  • Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
  • The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping, squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
  • Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
