Job Description

Position Overview:

Join Rockwell Automation as a Project-Level Embedded Software Engineer and shape the future of industrial automation. In this role, you'll influence technology decisions, design firmware architectures, contribute to industry standards, and enhance our technical expertise. You'll collaborate with a tight-knit team of engineers-ranging from junior to senior-on new features and enhancements for complex systems. As part of a smaller business unit, you'll have the freedom to explore new challenges, pursue your interests, and take ownership in a collaborative, continuous improvement culture.

We use a scaled Scrum framework that empowers teams to prioritize flexibly while aligning with business goals. You'll join a supportive group that values open communication, skill growth, and problem-solving. We're seeking a technical leader with a proven track record in architecture, experience with safety/reliability compliance, and a passion for solving diverse challenges. You will report to the embedded software manager.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on platform, test, and infrastructure architecture priorities.
  • Translate functional and performance requirements into robust designs.
  • Implement and test code changes via our CI/CD pipeline.
  • Develop automated test cases within our testing framework.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex product anomalies.
  • Engage fully in Scrum ceremonies (Planning, Daily Stand-Ups, Refinement, Review, Retrospective).
  • Work cross-functionally with other engineering teams as needed.
  • Share progress, goals, and roadblocks with your team clearly, verbally and in writing.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar; or equivalent years of relevant work experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required- we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, not now or in the future, for this job opening

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Typically requires 8+ years in software product development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in architecting and designing complex systems.
  • Experience navigating industrial regulatory compliance (safety/reliability).
  • Experience creating detailed technical documentation.
  • Deep understanding of RTOS, BSP, drivers, and their interactions.
  • TUV Functional Safety Certified or familiar with IEC 61508
  • Knowledge of Ethernet networking (TCP/IP, TLS, DTLS)
  • Understanding of model design techniques such as UML
  • Hands-on Scrum experience.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming (e.g., inheritance, virtualization).
  • Background in Industrial Automation
  • Desire to partner with business architects to shape product roadmaps.
  • Experience with local and global technical teams.
