Project Manager

Primary Responsibilities for the Project Manager

  • Responsibility for all aspects of the project over the entire life (Think, Study, Research, Plan, Implement).
  • Must be familiar with system scope and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member, to effectively coordinate the activities of the team.
  • Also responsible for assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedule to ensure timely completion of project.
  • May communicate with a Senior Project Manager, Functional Area Manager, or Program Manager regarding status of specific projects. Lead and manage projects and provide Program Management Office (PMO) support to the entire organization.
  • Projects typically include (but are not limited to) capacity and facility planning, capital projects, safety and other engineering projects in support of manufacturing operations.
  • Provide successful implementation of assigned projects including cost, schedule, quality and performance goals.
  • Provide a communication capability regarding the status and progress of projects including affected clients, departmental management and project team members. Provide leadership to the assigned project team while deferring functional excellence to the respective technical discipline in consort with the functional manager.
  • Provide project planning consultation and advisory services in support of potential and early phase projects.
  • Responsible for interacting with and coordinating outside resources including professional services, contractors and equipment vendors for assigned projects.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required for the Project Manager:

  • Four-year college degree in Management, Engineering PMP Certification desired.
  • Three to five years of related experience required.
  • Industrial construction experience is desirable.
  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve processes, products or services in own function.
  • Effectively manage small projects or sub-teams, including coordination of resources outside of own area.
  • Forecast and plan resource requirements for small projects or sub-teams.
  • Monitor and control costs within own work and may manage costs for small projects or areas.
  • Knowledge of Project Development / Project Life Cycle
  • Knowledge of Project Management Concepts / Fundamentals / Standards
  • Knowledge of Cadence Project Management Methodology
  • Gather detailed requirements and establishing project deliverables
  • Develop scope and business justification documents
  • Manage scope changes and Change Management Process
  • Effective execution of the project plan
  • Execute the tasks as defined in the project plan in order to achieve the project goals
  • Develop process and procedures to enhance PMO
  • Assist in training and mentoring new project managers
  • Engineering design and construction
  • Financial reporting, Responsible for cost tracking and adhering to project estimates.
  • Solve moderately complex problems; take a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Interpret customer needs, assess requirements and identify solutions to non-standard requests.
  • Work independently to address a range of standard and non-standard situations.
  • Ability to plan and organize project and program activities in an integrated manner.
  • Ability to lead and direct small to large teams, including internal and external resources.
  • Ability to manage 2 to 3 projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to recognize and address deviations from plan, issues and risks.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ensure a common understanding by setting expectations according to the Project Plan.
  • Analytical skills.
