Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
This position plays a pivotal role in enhancing and future-proofing the University's Enterprise Data Warehouse (
EDW) and overall data infrastructure. The Enterprise Data Solutions Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a scalable, secure, and efficient data architecture to support business intelligence, analytics, and institutional decision-making. The role requires developing strategies to replace legacy Operational Data Store (
ODS) systems, designing integration platforms for custom and third-party applications, and preparing the enterprise data architecture for a SaaS
ERP environment.
This position requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and collaborative skills to ensure the data infrastructure supports business needs. The Enterprise Data Solutions Architect will work closely with IT teams, Institutional Research and Planning (
IRP), analytics platform administrators, reporting services, external partners and vendors to optimize data structures for ease of use, flexibility, and scalability.
Some of the Key Responsibilities include:
- Lead the technical design, development, implementation, enhancement, and operation of the University's Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) with a vendor partner.
- Design and maintain a scalable and efficient data solution that supports business intelligence and analytics.
- Develop and implement modern API-driven integration strategies with third-party and custom applications, ensuring seamless data flow and integration.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data pipelines to improve data efficiency and accessibility.
- Play a key role in the organization's data governance program by collaborating with stakeholders to establish and uphold data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices. Contribute to enterprise data governance initiatives, including metadata management, data cataloging, classification, and security policies, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA) and organizational standards.
- Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Research and Planning (IRP) to support data modeling, analysis, and visualization.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
- Post-baccalaureate degree with 2+ years of experience or a baccalaureate degree with 3+ years of experience or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
- Experience with architecting, designing, and implementing secure enterprise data solutions.
- Ability to lead and manage multiple projects and/or project teams
- Excellent written and oral communication/presentation skills
- Experience with a proven record of troubleshooting complex and time-sensitive issues

AWS and/or Azure cloud environments experience- Microsoft SQL Server and AWS Redshift experience
- Higher education enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (e.g., Ellucian Banner, Ellucian Colleague, PeopleSoft, Workday) experience
- Experience with data governance tools such as data catalog, meta data handling, data quality, etc.
- Experience building and managing a data warehouse and associated ETL processes
- Experience with architecting, designing, and implementing secure enterprise solutions
