Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking a qualified and motivated Engineering Assistant to join our Stormwater team in the Water Programs Division.


In this role, you will:
* Assist stormwater engineers by researching easements and deeds to determine the County's access rights for stormwater infrastructure maintenance.
* Locate and retrieve plan sets related to stormwater facilities and improvements.
* Support the maintenance of the state-required database of stormwater assets.
* Assist in responding to stormwater complaints and conducting illicit discharge investigations.
* Provide field support for bond release inspections and ensure complaint resolutions are properly documented in the County's automated system.
* Prepare detailed location maps for field inspectors.
* Support emergency response activities, including extended coverage in the Emergency Operations Center during activations.

We are looking for candidates who are detail-oriented, organized, and ready to support vital stormwater and emergency response operations that protect Loudoun County's environment and communities.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma (Associate degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred); three (3) years of related technical level work experience in engineering and/or construction; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Prefer Virginia DEQ Stormwater Inspector Certification.

Prefer AutoCAD and/or GIS experience.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Valid driver's license and good driving record required (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of criminal, credit, and DMV record background checks.

Must possess the ability to lift 50 pounds and to engage in field work for extended periods, occasionally under adverse weather conditions, and travel on foot over land for long distances over all types of terrain. Subject to recall or being held beyond scheduled workday; must be available to respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive. May be required to attend occasional evening meetings.
