Description Lutheran Social Services of WI and Upper MI is currently seeking a Lead Cook / Service Worker to join our team at the Chippewa Falls Veterans Affairs Program! We are a residential facility that supports veterans for up to 24 months providing housing, counseling, case management, food services, and more to veterans in our communities. The Cook will be responsible for preparing healthy meals and performing light housekeeping tasks as well as taking unit requests for veteran residents with special dietary needs while following USDA and FDA guidelines. This is a full-time, benefits eligible role with hours taking place Monday through Friday, 9:15am - 5:15pm. Under supervision, prepares and cooks meals and/or performs housekeeping and maintenance duties. Also performs other duties as required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to communicate both in verbal and written format, effectively and efficiently in job. COMPUTER SKILLS/TECHNOLOGY: Working knowledge of computers to allow employee to access computer systems and applications to complete timecards, read and respond to email, and complete required on-line training. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position works in a kitchen environment, which includes working with a hot stove, cleaning equipment and serving materials. Hair net or plain hat is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to frequently stand, walk and sit and occasionally bend/stoop, crouch, climb stairs and kneel. The employee may need to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
