Our company is part of the world's largest supplier of induction heating, melting, thermal processing and production systems for the metals and materials industry worldwide. We have a presence in a large range of markets including food, beverage, medical, pharmaceutical, chemical, and cosmetics.

We have a summer internship available for a talented, driven mechanical engineering student. The Intern will have the opportunity to contribute to, learn about, and experiment with: 3D printing, prototyping, and SOLIDWORKS. The Intern also will contribute to the development of a specific proprietary project/product.



Mechanical Design Engineer Intern Job Duties:

Design and specify mechanical systems that move, orient, and process parts in Induction Heating Systems.

Design, Specify, and Configure Induction tooling and components, including but not limited to: Machine bases, material handling, actuators, pneumatics, sensors, cams, bearings, pumps, water-containment systems, induction coils, bus bars, guarding, etc.

Write and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions.

Utilize technical data (i.e. Machinery's handbook, internet, vendor catalogs, etc.) to create robust designs. Knowledge of screws, threads, materials, strength of materials, speed and feeds, correct fit, form and function of various design elements.

Generate and update technical drawings using standard design conventions and tolerances.

Collaborate with Radyne Engineering and Manufacturing personnel in developing improvements in tooling, machining, and material usage.

Influence how own work assignments are completed. Some creativity in accomplishing assignments and use of discretion and independent judgment required.

Address any problems encountered in the fabrication and construction of experimental or production machines.

Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Job Requirements:

* Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program

* CAD Experience (SolidWorks Preferred)

* Concepts of production techniques including Machining, Fabricating, Welding, Assembly

* Good technical writing and oral communication skills.

* Experience with AutoCAD a plus
