The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Building Code Compliance Analyst, the Building Code Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the University is in compliance with various building codes and regulations. This role involves independent judgment, correcting and curing violations issued by the Department of Buildings, Department of Preservation, Fire Department of New York, and Housing Preservation Department.

Responsibilities



  • Work closely with internal departments and external vendors to secure funding and manage projects aimed at rectifying these violations. Key areas of focus include:

    • Boiler legalization
    • Facade-related violations
    • Elevator violations and legalization


  • Identify, correct, and cure violations issued by relevant regulatory bodies, including the Department of Buildings, Department of Preservation, Fire Department of New York, and Housing Preservation Department.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to ensure funding and resources are available for projects aimed at correcting violations.
  • Represent the University at the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) to help mitigate or dismiss violations.
  • Regularly monitor and review building compliance status to ensure ongoing adherence to all relevant codes and regulations.
  • Prepare and present reports to prepare and represent on compliance status, violation corrections, and project progress to the Director of Financial and Regulatory Compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree required or a minimum of three years of related experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
  • Exceptional organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with city agencies and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in using electronic databases for tracking compliance activities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to resolve compliance issues.
