Position description

The School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, is seeking outstanding applicants for two open rank (assistant, associate, full) Professor of Clinical X positions within the Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice. Candidates specializing in immunology, oncology, neurology clinical care, pharmacist implementation studies, and ambulatory care will be considered. Qualified applicants will be eligible for California pharmacy licensure, as applicable to the position. Competitive applicants will have experience in relevant scholarship and teaching, completed post-graduate training such as a fellowship or other research-oriented programs (e.g., a Master's or PhD), and shown promise for academic advancement within the UC system.

Professors of Clinical X serve as clinician scholars and educators, which is expected to weigh more towards research over clinical activity. A successful candidate is expected to teach both student pharmacists and pharmacy residents at the didactic and experiential levels, and to lead or have a significant intellectual and substantive contribution to a research program with extramural support or be highly involved in other creative activities. They are also required to engage in clinical activities, such as clinical services, direct clinical trials, establish/evaluate clinical practice sites or care of delivery models. Candidates can provide clinical services and develop educational programs at the UC Irvine Medical Center (400+ bed tertiary care center) in the city of Orange or an affiliate site. This position will report to the Chair of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice.

UCI is an HSI, an AANAPISI, and a charter member of the AAAS SEA Change initiative that supports institutional efforts to increase access and success for students, faculty and staff from groups marginalized in STEMM. Programs are available to meet the needs of dual-career academic partners. Candidates are welcome to explain how they have contributed to inclusive excellence in their teaching, research, and service.

Founded in 1965, UCI is a top hospital and top 10 public university in U.S. News & World Report and home to several NIH-funded centers, including the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) and Institute for Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS). The UCI School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, along with Samueli Institute for Integrative Health, Schools of Nursing, Medicine, and Population & Public Health, make up the UCI College of Health Sciences.
