Maine's Best Retirement Community - Thornton Oaks in Brunswick is looking for a full-time Cook!

Do you love food? Are you creative? Thornton Oaks Independent Retirement community is looking for someone to fill a full-time cook position. You will have the opportunity to have input into menus, cook soups, stews, and entrees from scratch, and assist putting together special event platters. You will work with a small team under close supervision of the Director of Dining Services. Our cooks perform a variety of duties normally executed in serving customers, preparing food, transporting and emptying trash receptacles, cleaning the kitchen, server storing stock, and checking and recording hot and cold temperatures as well as washing dishes. This is a fully benefited position and weekends are required.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Food safety certification required (e.g., ServSafe) and must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
  3. Experience: One year of relevant food production experience required. One year of specialized culinary training or institutional/retail cooking experience preferred.
