Summary:

The Project Research Scientist for the Active Playful Learning project utilizes their experience in developmental psychology, education, and playful learning to help manage a national team conducting a longitudinal study in schools. They help lead a variety of tasks at the national level including managing the recruitment of school districts, leading meetings, creating workshops, trainings, and materials for project staff at all levels, effectively monitoring progress made at each research site.

This individual must also have a record of publication and dissemination of research at the post-doctoral level. This role will involve synthesizing and communicating findings from the study to a variety of audiences including academia, funders, educational practitioners, and other stakeholders.

Specifically, a candidate with experience in children's development of curiosity and creativity is desired. The individual will use their expertise to help the project develop, implement, and oversee the administration of research tools aimed at capturing children's creativity and curiosity in the classroom setting. This individual must also lead a team of research assistants in piloting a variety of child survey and direct measures, testing feasibility before implementation of the measures at the national level.

This is a grant funded project.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years' experience with child development and education research. Experience in playful learning trainings. Experience conducting community-based participatory research. Experience working with children, teachers, and administrators in research and classroom settings. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and abilities

* Experience with instruction on playful learning, community-based research, and classroom research.

* Expertise in playful learning and the development of creativity and curiosity.

* Excellent interpersonal, leadership, writing, and organizational skills.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills.

* Ability to interact with a diverse population of participants.

* Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Preferred:

* Proficiency in statistical programs: SPSS, SAS, and R.
