Position Overview

The Chief Data Scientist will serve as the primary technical expert in knowledge and data analysis and have the ability and experience to solve highly complex technical issues. This is both an individual role contributor but also has a ceiling for the potential of a key leadership role within the JCTE-Operations Group. This role will be responsible for executing the business agenda, managing complex data projects and overseeing data and system management for the planning and execution across all organizational verticals with a strong team-first and customer focus. Maintaining strong connections with IT is crucial to this role. A team-first, customer-centric, and adaptable approach is essential in this role to manage multiple priorities and respond to customer requests promptly and respectfully. Additionally, exploring innovative technologies, such as AI, is important for continuous improvement. The Chief, Data Scientist should be proactive in this area.



Responsibilities

    Establish best practices and strategies for extracting meaning and value from large datasets.
  • Design and clearly communicate principled conclusions from data employing mathematics, statistics, computer science, and application-specific knowledge.
  • Use various forms of analysis methodology to characterize, explore, and assess large complex datasets.
  • Translate practical mission needs and analytics questions related to large datasets into technical requirements.
  • Provide assistance with proposals, recruiting and fostering a team-minded approach with other vertical leads.
  • Assist teammates in drawing appropriate conclusions from the analysis of such data.
  • Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Make informed recommendations regarding technical solutions, while maintaining awareness of unique and dynamic customer collection, processing, storage, and analytic capabilities.


Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in machine learning, data science, programming, or statistical analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science/Mathematics related field. Master's or PhD preferred.
    • Substitute for a degree is a Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in computer or data science/IT/Knowledge management or related field.
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace with unique TTPs.
  • 3+ years of management or technical supervision desired but not required.
  • Exceptional willingness and propensity for collaboration, relationship & team building.
  • Proactively anticipate and business requirements and issues by having a strong pulse on the documentation, synchronization and embolden AGILE across the organization
  • Strong project management skills with ability to proactively prioritize and coordinate complex projects.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills with strong ability to translate business needs into IT execution.
  • Exceptional knowledge of computer applications (SAP, Optiva, SQL server, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, MS Project, Visio, etc.)
  • Ability to travel up to 10% both CONUS and OCONUS.
  • 1+ years of experience using Jira and Confluence.
  • Ability to obtain an IAT Level 2 or Level 3 certification within 6 months of hire date and maintain that certification while employed on the program.


Special Requirements/Security Clearance

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U. S. Citizenship status and a TS/SCI security clearance and will require to undergo a CI polygraph if selected. Security Clearance requirements will be specified in the Government's Task Order.

Salary Range

Salary Range: Salary Minimum: $170,000, Salary Maximum: $220,000

The annual base salary provided is a guideline for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. When extending an offer, CESI also considers other variables such as (but not limited to) work experience, education, training, skill set, internal peer equity, clearance level, and market conditions. In addition, CESI provides an extensive selection of benefits and offerings to our employees.
