The Behavioral Health Administrative Service Organization (BHASO) Project Manager will serve as an important connection between UnitedHealthcare Community & State Health Plan Clinical Operations and the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration. The BHASO serves all Individuals in the Colorado UnitedHealthcare Community & State Health Plan Medicaid Region. The BHASO Project Manager will work in close partnership with the Colorado Community and State Chief Behavioral Health Officer, the BHASO Director, and other Colorado Community and State Departments to support the success of Colorado's BHASO program for behavioral health care and services for all Individuals in the Colorado Community & State (C&S) BHASO region while providing oversight and management of state contract requirements and deliverables.

The BHASO Project Manager will be the lead that delivers BHASO contract requirements for full compliance with the BHASO contract. They will support with assigning and reviewing all contract deliverables for quality and track all due dates to ensure timeliness. The BHASO Project Manager will support the Colorado C&S Chief Behavioral Officer, Clinical Director, Contract and Provider Relations Manager and the Colorado C&S Children and Youth Medicaid System of Care Manager to track the multi-modal contract requirements under the BHASO.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Works directly with Colorado C&S Team and National to Team to assess and monitor key program design elements
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on the BHASO contract and builds/maintains relationships with internal and external entities to meet contract requirements
  • Collaborates with BHA program managers and BHASO program staff to make sure all contract deliverables are met and accepted by the BHA
  • Organizes and tracks deliverables through assignment to BHASO team and holds team accountable to makes sure all contract requirements are met and submitted in a quality manner
  • Consults with a wide range of internal and external business partners to determine the most effective solutions to sustain the success of the BHASO contract
  • Expertly prepares written communication and presents to internal and external partners with professionalism. Prepares reports and presentations appropriate for broad audiences that communicate program outcomes and performance strengths and opportunities
  • Monitors leading and lagging indicators
  • Conducts root cause analysis and develops trend reports for processes that are operating outside of established parameters
  • Makes recommendations to improve job aids, training, workflows, etc. to ensure successful operations and achievement of program goals
  • Escalates issues to help inform overall program enhancements
  • Establishes a methodology to ensure rapid cycle evaluation and continuous improvement

Required Qualifications:



  • 3+ years of direct or indirect behavioral health care service
  • 2+ years of provider customer service experience
  • 1+ years of experience with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Solid process improvement skills / experience
  • Experience managing change initiatives
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for BHA (Behavioral Health Administration) meetings and convenings



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Colorado behavioral health provider licensure
  • 3+ years of successive program administration and leadership experience in behavioral health policy, community integration and network development functions
  • Community & State Health Plan experience
  • Familiar with performance monitoring strategies and tactics (control charts, run charts, etc.)
  • Demonstrated expertise with the continuum of behavioral health modalities
  • Solid influencer with demonstrated skills in innovative thinking to optimize health care system



Soft Skills:



  • Ability to organize and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
