Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Writer providing support to the NC3 Contract, specifically within the NCL Division of the AFNWC/NC3 Integration Directorate at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO.

The NCL Division sustains and supports globally deployed nuclear command, control, and communications (NC3) capabilities. It oversees legacy and current systems including fixed, mobile, and airborne Military SATCOM terminals, aircrew alerting systems, strategic messaging platforms, and NATO SATCOM systems. This role will contribute to the development of documentation that supports system operation, training, testing, and acquisition.



Responsibilities

In this Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) role, you will provide expert-level support to Department of Defense (DoD) programs by assisting government leadership with decision-making, planning, and execution throughout the acquisition lifecycle. You will apply your technical and/or professional expertise to ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations, contribute to mission success, and help deliver critical capabilities to the warfighter.

Duties include, but not limited to:

    Prepare original technical papers, manuals, policies, specifications, and reports in scientific, technical, or professional fields.

  • Write and edit user documentation, how-to guides, instruction manuals, procedures, and training materials.

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation tailored to specific audiences.

  • Ensure documents meet agency style, formatting, tone, and accuracy standards.

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, test results, mockups, and other inputs to develop or update content.

  • Collaborate with engineers, program managers, vendors, and customer representatives to define technical specifications.

  • Maintain and organize an electronic library of signed documents and final presentations.

  • Ensure consistency and clarity across related documents, including citation of sources and generation of tables of contents.

  • Conduct final reviews for layout, grammar, and editorial quality before release.

  • Support document revisions, version control, and coordination of different editions as needed.

  • Use Microsoft Office and desktop publishing software for content creation, layout, and formatting.



Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

Education: BA/BS Degree or MA/MS Degree

Years of Experience: Up to 3 years of experience in realted field

Technical Skills
  • Strong writing and grammar skills with a clear command of the English language

  • Experience creating technical documents in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with MS Project and MS Access is a plus

  • Ability to synthesize technical data and translate it into easily digestible formats

  • Desktop publishing experience and document version control

Interpersonal Skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Able to multi-task and manage multiple document workflows

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across diverse teams

  • Able to work independently and proactively manage documentation needs

Travel: Occasional travel based on the needs of the program
