Position Summary

The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the Quality Department by implementing and improving robust manufacturing processes and maintaining the quality management system at the Mt. Juliet facility. This position collaborates closely with Engineering, Production, Regulatory, and Product Management teams to provide expert quality guidance aimed at evaluating, correcting, and sustaining product and process performance.

The Quality Engineer utilizes a range of quality tools-including root cause analysis, cross-functional team leadership, statistical techniques, standardized procedures, and auditing-to support both internal and external customer requirements. This role also provides technical counsel to site leadership on matters related to product quality, reliability, safety, and performance throughout the product lifecycle. This position reports directly to the Quality Manager.

Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Conducts thorough root cause analyses on product non-conformances from all sources to identify improvement opportunities and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Performs inspections and testing of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Leads and actively participates in cross-functional teams to identify, implement, and sustain effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborates with suppliers to verify that incoming materials and components meet Destaco's specifications and quality requirements.
  • Evaluates components, materials, equipment, and finished goods against technical specifications to detect and document defects.
  • Applies structured problem-solving methodologies and quality tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA) to drive process improvements.
  • Monitors and maintains control over calibrated measuring equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Assists with and supports internal quality audits to assess process compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensures all quality-related activities comply with company policies, procedures, and applicable standards.
  • Proficiently uses precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, thread gauges, and height gauges.
  • Supports the development and implementation of standardized work processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education and Certification Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical Engineering or another related field
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE); other ASQ certifications are highly desirable
  • Formal problem-solving certifications {Root Cause Analysis} desirable
  • 5 to 10 years engineering experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.

Physical Requirements: (To be met with or without accommodations)

  • Eye hand coordination and attention to detail
  • Ability to bend, twist and turn.
