Are you looking for a fantastic career at Aqua? We have a great opportunity for an Inspector. This position performs a wide variety of duties, but not limited to, the operation, maintenance, repair, and locating of water distribution facilities for Aqua Pennsylvania.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Primary Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Operates and maintains water distribution system facilities.
  • Responds to Pennsylvania One Call locates as well as other locates for construction projects.
  • Reads and interprets maps, drawings, and schematics to include GIS data.
  • Acts as a first responder in emergency situations.
  • Receives work assignments in the work order management application and processes work orders and email using a tablet or computer.
  • Safely and effectively operates, maintains, monitors, and/or controls distribution department equipment in accordance with departmental standard operating processes.
  • Operates and maintains an assigned vehicle in accordance with all safety and maintenance processes, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Elevates and reports unusual conditions in the distribution system to the supervisor.
  • Responds to customer water service inquiries. Meets with customer and resolves issues as needed.
  • Performs housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Performs all activities in accordance with the proper use and maintenance of tools, instruments, and meter cleaning and test equipment.
  • Assists with other tasks or projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required Experience, Education, Licenses, and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A valid US Driver's license
  • A valid US Commercial Driver's license (CDL) class A or acquire within the time frame specified in the bargaining unit agreement
  • A class E Distribution license issued by the PA DEP or obtain one within 2 years as specified by the bargaining unit agreement
  • If internal applicant, have a satisfactory work record (no more than one disciplinary occurrence in the last three years)
  • Meet the physical qualifications established for this position
  • May be required to pass reasonable test: oral, written, or practical to determine qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (Examples below)

  • Ability to use a tablet or computer to receive and process work assignments
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively (clearly, concisely and professionally) with customers
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered multi-tasking environment

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases and/or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
  • See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Operate standard office equipment
  • Working conditions includes travel to work sites of Essential Utilities and/or other customers
  • Must be available for emergency work after regular working hours and weekends and for scheduled overtime
  • Employees hired or entering the bargaining unit will initially receive a $3.00/hr less than the applicable rate for all positions held or worked. The reduced starting wage shall be increased by $1.00/hr each year until the employee is paid the full wage rate. Existing union employees of the Shenango Division who bid on this position will ave their pay rates determined by the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement that is in effect as of the date of this posting.
