Summary

Responsible for driving the implementation and review of new product requests relative to specific Value Analysis Committees (VAC) for LVHN, leading and facilitating VAC and sub-committee meetings, and presenting results to the Network-wide Value Analysis Councils. This position serves as a direct liaison to Physician and Clinical Groups, Supply Chain, and Network Leadership for Network-wide product and vendor standardization, utilizing communication, in-service consultation, and education to ensure a seamless process using value analysis methodology.

Job Duties

  • Facilitates service line VACs and coordinating activities as appropriate. Activities include, but are not limited to, standardization/utilization projects and Network-wide new product/technology assessment within the specified service line, and actively participating in clinical councils internally and externally while coordinating the VA process with supply chain teams to optimize supply, equipment, and contractual arrangements, including implementing initiatives.
  • Serving as a facilitator and clinical resource for all clinicians and physicians for the new product introduction process, including supplies, services, technology, medical devices, and capital equipment as required. This includes interacting with clinical staff to ensure appropriate feedback is received before product decisions are made (e.g., physicians, nurses, radiology technologists, and other ancillary staff), and interacting with applicable departments to ensure all safety, regulatory and epidemiology issues are addressed before product selection. This also includes identifying alternative products to backorders and/or recalls follows the process of obtaining appropriate clinical approval.
  • Utilizes the value analysis guiding principles to evaluate all new product requests while leveraging appropriate tools and technology, which may include coordinating the implementation of educational activities related to product utilization with appropriate departments and physicians. Preparing value analysis reports and evidence-based data to interested stakeholders. Collaborates with supply chain teams to develop and implement financial monitoring related to product standardization and new product introduction that support the organization's target operating model and Network goals.
  • Evaluates and prioritizes service line standardization and utilization opportunities using information obtained via the logistics information system, hospital financial and operational systems, and discussions with administrative leadership, physicians, and staff. Analyzing cost-saving ideas and implementing opportunities for standardization. Analyzes follow-up reports to determine the ongoing effectiveness of standardization/utilization efforts.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or Healthcare
  • 6 years' experience in a clinical setting or in a supply chain services role with specific product and procedural knowledge.
  • Moderate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Business Administration.
  • 3 years experience in strategic souring for clinical products or value analysis.
  • Dynamic influencing, communication, and facilitative skills, including across cultures and geographies.
  • Strong understanding of clinical, business, and commercial concepts.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellence in internal and external communication to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions.
  • Well-developed writing skills.

  • Proactive collaborator in a matrix organization.

  • Desire to achieve assigned results in a fast-paced environment and be a change agent.
  • Fluency with the tenants of clinical value analysis.
  • Ability to perform clinical research to identify best practices associated with selected products.
  • Ability to implement new programs and procedures.
  • CMRP-Cert Materials & Resource Professional AHACC - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
  • RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
