Responsibilities

Material Handling Supervisors responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain effective material handling procedure while ensuring a safe work environment

  • Hold employee meetings to communicate and teach safety, policy, quality, and other information and requirements

  • Train employees to ensure that they are following proper procedures and policies while conforming to customer requirements. Provide corrective action/discipline if needed

  • Learn the specifics of each position within your area or responsibility

  • Monitor and maintain accurate kronos records for payroll

  • Assure employee safety by correcting and documenting all safety violations immediately

  • Work to minimize the impact of any employee injury, having concern of injured employees first and investigate, documenting corrective measures

  • Work to instill cooperation in others

  • Assure employees are properly trained and equipped

  • Assure that all employees' questions and problems are responded to timely

  • Make sure all scheduled jobs are filled at the beginning of the shift and throughout

  • Review shipping schedules to ensure shipping schedules are being followed to meet demands

  • Supervise, coordinate activities, and issue instructions to employees in their department

  • Coordinate with maintenance to eliminate excessive and unnecessary downtime of machinery

  • Other duties as assigned

This is a safety sensitive position. This is an on-site position.



Qualifications

Qualified candidates for Material Handling Supervisor position should possess the following:

  • High School diploma (preferred)

  • Must have significant departmental job knowledge and/or previous job experience

  • Must have a good attendance record

  • Satisfactory safety record and good performance record

  • Must have the ability to recognize problems that are or could be of a serious nature, reporting such problems to the General Supervisor, Superintendent, Department Manager

  • Good leadership skills

  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be able to handle stressful situations

  • Self-motivated, flexible with work schedules, and able to adapt to rapidly changing work environment

  • Must be willing to attend classes, seminars, workshops, training, etc. during/after work hours, company pays for courses, must successfully pass courses
