Lead Watercraft Mechanic (Heavy Equipment Operator)
Contingent Upon Contract Award
Purpose:
- Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a Lead Watercraft Mechanic for an on-site position to support the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group ONE (EODGRU1) Watercraft Support Services for the US Navy based in San Diego, California.
Job Description:
- Oversee daily maintenance operations and provide hands-on leadership to all mechanics and support personnel under this contract.
- Servicing and repairing a variety of watercraft and associated trailers, including light surface craft, Jet Skis, and both inboard and outboard engines.
- Responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining trailer systems used to transport watercraft.
- Support craft operations teams during testing, troubleshooting, and evaluation of mechanical, electrical, and steering systems, as well as onboard equipment.
- Mentor junior military and civilian mechanics through on-the-job training (OJT) to ensure all maintenance tasks meet performance and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years' experience as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) certified mechanic specializing in commercial inboard/outboard two and four-stroke marine gas and diesel engines, including waterjets.
- Must have at least one 1 year of experience in hull repair for both aluminum and glass-reinforced plastic (GRP). The Government does not require OEM Certification of a specific manufacturer, but it must be a certification relevant to the marine industry and aligned with the types of Craft operated by EODGRU ONE.
- Must possess strong interpersonal and communication abilities, enabling effective coordination with both internal teams and external partners. This includes the skill to navigate and resolve complex issues through clear and concise communication.

- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD "Secret" security clearance.
Travel Requirements:
- 50% travel
- If a position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier loads with assistance.
- Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and work in cramped or awkward positions for extended periods.
- Must be able to climb ladders or onto watercraft and trailers without restriction.
- Must have full range of motion in all limbs and the ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Must be capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, and rain.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
