Engineering Summer Intern
Purpose:
- Valkyrie Enterprises is looking for an Engineering Summer Intern in Huntsville, AL.
- Engineering fields of interest include Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C), Aerospace, Software, Computer, and Electrical Engineering.
- Positions available for summer or a longer term, not to extend 32 hours a week,
Job Description:
- Support GN&C development, testing, and analysis activities which will include Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) hardware, Flight Motion Simulators, 6DoF Vibration Tables, and real-time hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Depending on program needs and intern's development goals, the intern can be involved with GN&C development, models and simulation, real-time software development, electrical engineering and design, and aerospace/mechanical design.
- Perform basic engineering tasks in order to gain familiarity with engineering functions.
- Aid staff engineers performing routine calculations and other tasks as assigned.
- Assist in obtaining information in support of assigned tasks.
- Help develop, integrate, and execute new and/or modified models and tools used for system design trades and analysis.
- Help develop and integrate appropriate interfaces for simulation architectures.
- Assist in conducting trade studies, analysis of alternatives, and capability analysis.
- Learn and work to gain overall knowledge and proficiencies with engineering tasks and System Engineering processes.
- Collaborate continuously with team members and others.
- Continually learn and improve based on focused feedback.
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and actively pursuing a BA/BS Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Software, Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant field).
- Must have the ability to follow directions and apply basic mathematics (add, divide, multiplication) to computations.
- Must be able to use PC software (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, desktop applications, and electronic mail programs) and standard test equipment (digital meters, oscilloscopes, strain and pressure gauges, etc.).
Desired Qualifications:
- Prefer a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Prefer membership in Engineering Organizations and Institutes.
Security Requirements:
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Travel Requirements:
Physical Requirements:
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
- Work will be performed in various environments to include office, industrial and lab settings.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
