Maritime Mechanic (Heavy Equipment Mechanic)
Contingent Upon Contract Award
Purpose:
- Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a Maritime Mechanic for an on-site position to support the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group ONE (EODGRU1) Watercraft Support Services for the US Navy based in San Diego, California.
Job Description:
- Responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overall servicing of a wide variety of watercraft and associated trailers.
- Working under the supervision of the Lead Maritime Mechanic, they ensure the operational readiness and safety of light surface craft, Jet Skis, and both inboard and outboard motor systems.
- Conduct routine diagnostics, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and performing preventative maintenance to extend the lifespan of all assigned assets to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group ONE (EODGRU1).
- Possess a strong understanding of propulsion systems, steering and throttle controls, fuel delivery systems, hull integrity, and trailer braking and lighting systems. Additionally, applicants will also serve as key contributors to workforce development by providing on-the-job training (OJT) to newly assigned military and civilian personnel, mentoring them in both technical skills and workplace safety practices.
- Through hands-on instruction and oversight, they help ensure that the maintenance team remains proficient, cohesive, and mission ready.
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least five 5 years' experience as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) certified mechanic specializing in commercial inboard/outboard two and four-stroke marine gas and diesel engines, including waterjets.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience in hull repair for both aluminum and glass-reinforced plastic (GRP). The Government does not require OEM Certification of a specific manufacturer, but it must be a certification relevant to the marine industry and aligned with the types of Craft operated by EODGRU ONE.
- Must possess strong interpersonal and communication abilities, enabling effective coordination with both internal teams and external partners. This includes the skill to navigate and resolve complex issues through clear and concise communication.

- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD "Secret" security clearance.
Travel Requirements:
- 50% travel
- If a position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier loads with assistance.
- Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and work in cramped or awkward positions for extended periods.
- Must be able to climb ladders or onto watercraft and trailers without restriction.
- Must have full range of motion in all limbs and the ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Must be capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, and rain.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
