Working within Immersive Design Systems (IDS), under the supervision of the Curriculum Development Manager, and in accordance with established professional and departmental standards, methods and models, plans, designs, and facilitates aspects of Training and Performance activities. Works closely with Clinical Service Partners (CSP) to design and deliver direct simulation across multiple areas, as well as offer support to CSP educators across the Hospital broadly for ongoing skills development and quality assurance of courses. Provides support for recurring activities, continuing education accreditation of courses, and IDS Faculty Development programs as required. Provides support for other IDS activities as required/applicable.

The Training and Performance Specialist I will be responsible for:

  • Participating in designing, developing, and delivering Training and Performance activities as assigned, including conducting needs assessments, participating in stakeholder meetings, developing curriculum using existing/standard project protocols, facilitating sessions, and ensuring quality assurance of existing courses.

  • Maintaining supportive relationships with Clinical Service Partners (CSP) and simulation educators within units to enhance the development of simulation activities and quality assurance mechanisms.

  • Partnering with Production Engineers to identify appropriate applications of simulation technology consistent with the specific and/or special needs of stakeholders.

  • Assisting with the delivery of faculty development programs and activities, including supporting setup and instruction during workshops and refresher courses.

  • Supporting the monitoring of Training and Performance program effectiveness through reviewing standard activity evaluations, and informing the Manager of any identified needs for modifications and adaptations to ensure IDS offerings meet established standards, guidelines, and instructions.

  • Developing and maintaining advancing knowledge of current simulation trends, practices, and techniques through participating in professional organizations and attending conferences, seminars, and other continuing education programs.

  • Serving as a member of the IDS Program and interdisciplinary team, supporting the execution of departmental programs and processes across IDS as needed, and communicating issues as they arise to the Manager and Director of Training and Performance.

  • Maintaining collaborative team relationships with peers and colleagues, contributing to the working group's achievement of goals, and helping foster a positive work environment.

To qualify, you must have:

  • 1 year of related experience and a Bachelor's Degree is required
  • Prior simulation design/delivery experience is strongly preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills, including an ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with key stakeholders
  • Capable of demonstrating effective professional communication skills, including diplomacy, discretion, and a customer service mindset.
  • Foundational knowledge of educational development theories and practice.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight as well as cohesively with a team.
  • Ability to function in a dynamic environment subject to changes in schedules and priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work some evenings and/or weekends as well as occasional travel to present at conferences or meetings.
