Job Description

Product Development Engineer will work in a new product development environment and support the development (from concept to production) of high current and voltage power conversion and Motor Control Center products. You will work on multiple concurrent projects, depending on scope and project timing, with supporting project teams. Execution may take place under the direction of project engineers and project managers. Create detailed engineering documentation; progress reports, and product cost information. Accountable for the technical project status, issue resolution, and following a Common Product Development (CPD) process. You will report to the Development Engineering Manager.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Participant in cross functional concept generation for new products representing test input to the design process.
  • Contribute to the creation of functional test plans from product Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS), High-level Design documents (HLDD) and subject matter expert input.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of product and system test set-ups.
  • Participate in hardware/product design and safety reviews.
  • Participate in the reviews of test plans and associated schedule.
  • Investigate product problems, with emphasis on hardware product support.
  • Participate in appropriate support programs to assure that products continue to fill the customer's needs.
  • Stay abreast of new test technology developments and applications that can be used in products through participation in technology seminars, courses, and independent study.
  • Must complete design and implementation documentation as specified by the Common Product Development Processes and associated functional process requirements.
  • Familiarity with appropriate Agency requirements such as UL845 and IEC 61439
  • Ensures familiarity with policies and procedures relating to standards of business conduct. Trains and motivates others in the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures.
  • Identify and promote new methodologies and processes to bring efficiency to the development process.
  • General Understanding of UL (Underwriters Laboratories) and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and documentation, and collaborate with the design team in a fluid design/test environment
  • Working knowledge of mechanical product development and possess an understanding of manufacturing needs.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • 3+ years of experience in Industrial Power and Control systems.
  • A General understanding of heat transfer and electromechanical theory.
  • Experience with the product development of power equipment for 240-690V AC systems.
  • Familiarity and experience interpreting and applying the following standards:
    • UL845
    • IEC 61439
    • IEEE C37.20.7
    • IEC/TR 61641
    • NFPA 70, 70E, 79
  • Familiarity and experience in conducting the following type tests:
    • Mechanical Endurance
    • Temperature Rise
    • Dielectric & Impulse Withstand
    • Short Circuit Withstand
    • Internal Arcing Fault Containment
  • Rockwell Automation product and product integration knowledge.
  • Pro-E CAD modeling experience.
  • SAP software experience.
