Job Overview

The Clinical Fellow will work under the supervision of a fully licensed provider and mentor who is responsible for the Fellow's activities. Appointments shall not exceed two (2) years; however, an exception may be made for a short extension beyond two years when necessary to complete a critical fellowship. The purpose of the Clinical Fellowship is to gain understanding and advanced knowledge of integration and application of theoretical knowledge from academic training, evaluate strengths and identify limitations, develop and refine clinical skills consistent with the particular scope of practice, and advance from consistent supervision to independent practitioner at the end of the fellowship. The fellowship focuses on managing facial deformities and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

Essential Functions

  • Perform clinical duties and other responsibilities under the supervision of a fully licensed provider and mentor in accordance with all institutional and federal regulations.
  • At least 80% of the time will be spent on direct clinical contact involving patient assessment, diagnosis, screening, treatment, report writing, family/client consultation, and/or counseling related to the management of facial deformities and TMJ disorders, and assisting in jaw and jaw joint surgeries under supervision.
  • Engage in appropriate training (as defined above) and professional development opportunities, as required by the Ohio State Dental Board.

Minimum Requirements

  • DDS or DMD.
  • Completed 30-month residency/training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • Limited Resident License from Ohio State Dental Board.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
