TSTC Benefits TSTC Retirement Plans Employee Discount Program Job Description: TSTC faculty deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment. Responsibilities include facilitation of activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and mentorship to students.Faculty will also interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is to integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational experiences. Faculty act as ambassadors for their programs and TSTC. Faculty will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community. * Excellent oral/written communication skills along with performing the functions of a dental hygienist * The candidate must be able to perform the following skills and tasks: dental prophylaxis, dental charting including periodontal probing, scaling and root planing, topical drug application, dental X-rays, pit and tissue sealants, dentinal desensitization, oral cancer screening, oral hygiene instruction, nutritional counseling, tobacco cessation counseling, in-office dental whitening, present dental treatment care plans; * Registered Dental Hygienist license (Texas State Board of Dental Examiners) * Demonstrate competency with use of technology that supports learning and teaching; Maintains a flexible schedule, including availability for evening, weekend, or summer assignment, as appropriate; *Demonstrate competency with use of technology that supports learning and teaching; Maintains a flexible schedule, including availability for evening, weekend, or summer assignment, as appropriate Preferred Skills, knowledge, and certifications or licenses * The preferred candidate should possess the following certifications as regulated by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners: Nitrous Oxide Consious Sedation Monitoring certification; Soft Tissue Diode Laser Therapy certification; Local Anesthesia certification (infiltration only); * Prior teaching and/or knowledge of competency-based learning * Clinical experience in various dental specialties as a registered Dental Hygienist * Preferred working 3-5 years of clinical /dental work experience * CPR Certified Education and Experience * Baccalaureate Degree/current knowledge of spectific dental hygiene subjects, documented background in current educational methodology concepts consistent with teaching assignments (*CODA Standard-3-6) * Minimum of 3 years industry experience Equal Opportunity Employer Texas State Technical College (TSTC), as an equal opportunity employer, complies with all applicable federal and state laws regarding nondiscrimination.
